With their programme "La lumière du sud - the light of the south", the duo Kravets-Kassung is dedicated to masters of French music. The vastness of the French coast, the high, blue sky and the special light have always inspired French artists to create special works of art. Thus, lightness merges with southern flair and the French way of life in music as well.
Marin Marais was the great viol player at the court of the French King Louis XIV. The duo's programme begins with his variations on the famous theme "La Folia". This is followed by masterpieces by the great impressionists Gabriel Fauré and Claude Debussy and the piece "Capriccio à la lumière du sud" written by Tobias Kassung himself - a homage to the tango and the light of the south. Finally, there is the ravishingly virtuoso composition by Mathias Duplessy, a well-known Parisian composer who has wonderfully combined French lightness with flamenco and Brazilian bossa nova.

Tobias Kassung: Capriccio à la lumière du sud, op. 16;
